Investigating Insulation in Reading

Some of our Reading groups in Te Māuru-e-taki-nei are learning how they can use their reading skills to investigate science concepts.  This week the Kakapo group have been reading and learning about insulation.

Kakapo Reading Group.

We read a text with a science experiment.  It involved wrapping bottles with different things to see what kept the water inside the warmest (what was the best at insulating the bottle).
On Tuesday we all made a hypothesis about what type of insulating material would be the best.
Today with Mrs Hansen's help we carried out the experiment.

Each jar was filled with hot tap water and then wrapped in a type of insulating.
We took the temperature of the water at the start before we wrapped the jar, and then we came back an hour later to take the temperature again.
