Autumn Leaves Writing

As part of our rich language experience this week, the children in Te Ope Rua Raki explored our school grounds to find autumn leaves.
The children then described the leaves using their senses, such as smell, sound, sight, touch.
They came up with some fantastic WOW words to then use in their writing.
Our writer of the week, used SIMILES in his writing!

  1. Great writing! I love the way you have used the words from your Y chart and included them in your descriptive sentences. Keep up the descriptive writing - I am so proud of you.

What a great idea to write descriptions about the Autumn leaves!
I think Te Pihinga class would enjoy this activity also..
Would you have any top tips on how to best write a good description?
    Thank you for sharing

    1. We always do a rich language experience each Monday. We use our senses and talk about what we can see, what we can smell, what we can hear, what we can feel, and what we can taste. We don't always cover each of the 5 senses - we didn't taste the leaves!!
