Rich Maths Activity Time!

This afternoon the children in Te Ope Rua Raki have been working on Rich Mathematical tasks! They each had a jar and some lollies. The children had to place a set of lollies in the jar and leave some out. Then they wrote their number story.
Here are our Emergent Maths learners trying really hard to complete this task!

    Great work team! I love the way I can see you working in teams and thinking about your mathematical problems.
    I think some of you are doing are doing a great job writing the number stories which go with your thinking.
    Keep thinking about what makes 5.

    Wow that looks like a fun task! I wonder what the most popular math story was? What a shame that they weren't real lollies! Maybe the students could try this at home with their families? I wonder whether the jar or them would end up with the most lollies!
