Collaborative Kites

Te Māuru-e-taki-nei (Rm9/10) created a collaborative art work of kites.  Each kite details each child's self portrait, favourite food, favourite animal and favourite movie.  On each kite's tail are 3 words that describe themselves.

On the display is a whakatauki -
"Kia rere au ki ngā rangi tūhāhā
kia tau atu au ki tōku taumata"
"Let me soar to the heavens so I may reach my potential"

Manu Tukutuku

Today Liz Brown from Taumutu Marae guided our South Hornby Whanau on our journey to make Manu Tukutuku. It was an awesome experience and very excited to display these in our current and new school.
Great work by Turanaga, Kahu, Meiana, Kihi Boy, Kaisa, Akeliah and all the mums who came along and helped.
They are awesome.  You all worked so hard.
Making your teachers proud!

Kiwi Can

Term 1 Theme - "RESPECT" Modules - Respect for Ourselves, Respectful Communication & Respect for others.
We have our Kiwi Can lessons on Monday and Tuesday's each week.
We had our first Kiwi Can lesson this week, it was great to see Nicky, and meet Owen. We each made a name plaque and then Nicky and Owen made them weave together with all of the other students art work to join the school together.

Learning Routines

Te Māuru-e-taki-nei (Rm 9/10 home space) are learning all of the Creative Play activities at Literacy and Numeracy time. They are learning to speak kindly to each other, work together, share, take turns, and have fun.
Here are a few photos from yesterday's Literacy time...
