Celebration of Learning in the Junior hubs.

We invited parents to come into the hubs and see what we had been learning for our technology unit -Sustainability and Ecological Awareness.

Students were eager to show their work to the adults, and talk about new terminology they had acquired on the journey.

There was lots to be shared from windmill design to solar panel fans, bells, and lightbulbs.
It was lovely to see so many parents enthusiastically involved with their children, so a big thank you for those parents that did attend.

It's Book Week!

 Week Seven is Book Week.

Today we have been lucky enough to have a visiting author, Alyse Boaz, come into our space and talk about her book,  Royal Blue.  This beautiful book is about a little starfish.

It was great to hear about how the pictures are made and then how the books are put together.

We also had 'a reading bug' come into our space this morning - we think it may have been Mrs Huriwai dressed up with antennae and special glasses, but it was great fun.  We had the story of Maisie the Butterfly read to us.

We all love hearing stories and having them read to us!

What an exciting week we are in for!

Poem this week!

Here is our poem for the week - and here is the activity that we completed to go with it?

We had a great lesson in learning how to use scissors? Look at the concentration when we cut out the bathtub and frog.

Have a look in the Homework book for the completed activity.

We are so proud of ourselves.

Te Ope Ruaraki Assembly - Week 8

Congratulations to the people that received certificates this week.
It is always hard for the teachers to choose just a couple from their homerooms.
We have so many students worthy of a certificate.  Keep up the fantastic attitudes and the effort towards your learning.

Race Unity Week

Today Te Ope Ruaraki were the lucky recipients of ice blocks from the team at UCSA.  We were very excited to get them and really enjoyed them in the afternoon sun.

Take a look at our classroom

We have been very busy over the last couple of weeks! Take a look.

This week for maths, we learnt how to order numbers from the smallest to the biggest on our maths caterpillars.

During our art lessons we have been learning how to draw self portraits. We drew ourselves using pencil and then coloured them in using wax crayons. Our lovely teacher Ms Norris then dyed them for us. We are super proud of our efforts!!

A visit from Kidsfirst Hornby

On Wednesday Ms Courtney and her homeroom hosted a visit from Kidsfirst Hornby.  They all had lots of fun making jellyfish in J week.  There were lots of smiling faces from all concerned.  The primary children were great role models for the kindergarten visitors.  Wonderful behaviour from all students.  We shall look forward to their next visit later in the term.

Week Seven

Welcome to Week 7 in Level 3.

I hope we move to Level 2 this week then we can see all those smiling faces.

                    Here is the google meet link;

Yes, it is the same as last week! Remember don't try to access before 9.56am as the teachers are in a meeting on another meet link.

Themes for this week:

Monday:  Show us your pet!
Please make sure no animals are hurt in the filming of this segment! If the participant is unwilling you can talk about your pet, or maybe draw a picture.

Tuesday: Favourite toy! Oops, Ms Norris said it was favourite colour today! So lets roll with favourite toy and favourite colour!!

Wednesday: Sharing the best thing about Lockdown!

We will review the planning during the week just in case we do go to Level 2.

We are looking forward to seeing lots of faces in the morning.
