Lennox's Fantastic Writing!

Wow! Lennox was showing truly his Learning Powers on Tuesday in his writing.  He worked hard to create a piece of writing about a picture of a giraffe stuck up a tree. Lennox came up with some incredible ideas about how the giraffe may have climbed up the tree because it was hiding from predators!
Lennox was very proud of his work and the effort that he put in and so was Miss McLeod, so he got to show Mr M his work, who was also very impressed!

Well done Lennox, keep up the great work!

Read Lennox's writing below!

One day a cheetah was chasing a giraffe. The giraffe climbed a tree. Then the cheetah gave up eventually. The giraffe climbed down because the giraffe was safe.

Hero Awards

Congratulations to our first heroes who were awarded a Hero Certificate at our very first Celebration Assembly of the year.
You are fabulous - great to see you all using your People Powers and Learning Powers.

BEING GUARDIANS

Yesterday when Mrs Signal was on lunch time duty she discovered this little group of "guardians" who were picking up rubbish (other peoples rubbish) around the school.  They are doing a fantastic job at looking after our brand new school!

Wonderful Watermelon

This week the children in Te Ope Ruaraki had watermelon.
We used our senses to explore the watermelon.
First we looked at it, then we smelt it, then we touched it, and last of all we tasted it.
We wrote down all of our ideas - and WOW words.
Then the next day we wrote some amazing stories about watermelon.  Check out our great describing words!

Talking about our learning.

Today we started looking at a new way to solve addition problems. We are learning to count on from the biggest number. Check out our video, we were able to talk about the way we solved the problem.

Ted and Olive

Meet Ted and Olive. They spend their days looking through our learning space, looking for children that are showing their People Powers and Learning Powers. Ted and Olive choose a child each day that they would like to go home with. We love hearing about the adventures of Ted and Olive at your house.

Self Portraits

This term in Te Ope Ruaraki we are learning all about ourselves and what makes us special. We have been exploring with different materials while creating our self portraits. We've experimented with pencil, pastel and natural materials. Here's a sneak peek of our work, hopefully they will all be finished soon so there will be a lot more to show off!

Te Ope Ruaraki Authors.

Check out Brooklyn and Kataraina's weekend recounts. An amazing effort recording the sounds they could hear. Well done, keep up the great work!
